Elite Artists Need Encouragement Too

Today I'm sharing a text from my kiddo a few years ago when I was struggling in art class. It was a short exchange but he offered the best thing anyone can - ENCOURAGEMENT.

One thing I've noticed is that when you get to a certain caliber of skillset, or professionalism, when you get opportunities or headlines or name-dropped or get a paycheck, when people think you're "elite" or skilled in some way... they often stop offering encouragement.

Just a reminder that for most artists (not all!) we are struggling and working JUST as hard if not harder than we did when we first picked up paintbrush, or needle and thread, or whatever.

Some artists really do kind of coast and phone it in - but I assure you, that's the exception not the rule.

Make sure to encourage artists! - like my kiddo did here.
